Dr. K. Olivia Trone

I value a holistic approach when working with clients, and I aim to co-create a space where we can walk through your personhood and experience together. In therapy, I utilize a blend of CBT, interpersonal, and psychodynamic/psychoanalytic methods when best suited for my clients, taking into consideration their specific situation and goals.

I seek to challenge my clients while also supporting them in a genuine and honest manner. While my outlook is greatly influenced by Eastern philosophy and religion, I am open and comfortable working with humans from any spiritual background. I tend to focus on insight-building, mindfulness, and aiding recognition of maladaptive patterns as a means to transform your experience. I tend to take a challenging, no-nonsense approach to healing through curiosity and focusing on functions of behaviors. More often than not, I have found therapy involves a lot of of unlocking/undoing social and familial conditioning so that we may reach back into the soul. I believe we are all creators and artists and that through playfulness, creativity, and a sense of wonder, we may journey back to the Self.

I earned my Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2019 from Midwestern University and my doctorate in Clinical Psychology in September of 2022. I practiced therapy for four years during my graduate experience. I have had the privilege of offering psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan, with various mental health issues and life circumstances. As I settle into my professional identity as a psychologist, I hope to integrate more playful and creative interventions inspired by somatic bodies of research and Jungian ideas. Through these avenues, I hope to help you restore control and comfort in many areas of your life.

Trainings, Certifications, and Research Interests:

I earned my RYT-200 in 2017 through the Yoga Alliance, and as a yoga instructor provide my students with the means to finding a deeper understanding of the self through practice and connection to one’s physical body. My goal is to create a safe, client-centered space for all of my clients and to provide them with resources and recommendations in order to help them achieve their goals. For my doctoral dissertation, I researched the impact of a yoga routine on individuals with high levels of traumatic stress through their work as first responders. I hope to continue researching the psychological benefits of yoga (somatic healing) and breath work throughout my career. I am also in training to become certified in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Applied Jungian Psychology.

About Me as a Human:

When I am not a psychologist, I am practicing yoga and diving into alternative medicine integration.

I am also a student of psychology and healing myself (and forever will be) - I am actively pursuing avenues of being challenged for transformational growth through many therapeutic modalities, and part of the way I do my own shadow work is by leaning into my love for metal music and horror films!

Are you a good fit to work with me?

How I facilitate “the work”

  • Psychodynamic interventions to highlight patterns obtained through attachment style and lived experiences with others and how that impacts the view and role of the self in relation to others, which will help you understand your relationships and how to navigate/nurture healthier more fulfilling relationships

  • Deepened connection with physical body (and, thus, the psyche) through guidance through somatic work and breathwork

  • Restored cognitive control through mindfulness, meditation, and CBT-techniques

  • Jungian-influenced self-exploration through shadow, persona, projections, archetypes, and connection with personal and collective unconscious

  • Existential exploration through spiritual and religious avenues

  • Trauma processing

  • Psychedelic integration and/or numinous experience integration (e.g.: unconscious material such as synchronicities, dreams, visions)

Who is a good fit?

  • Creatives, artists, individuals looking to tap back into the playful side of themselves (the true self)

  • Individuals moving through big life transitions

  • Humans searching for increased identity development and relationship with self

  • People who are doing well and want to learn more about themselves

  • Someone who is truly dedicated to doing the work both inside and outside of the therapy room

What will it feel like?

  • No nonsense approach - it will feel like a challenge!

  • One of the most rich and fruitful ways to engage in the therapeutic process is to have very painful and uncomfortable conversations about the self and experience. sometimes relational patterns will also play out in the therapeutic relationship, which we can then examine and become curious about

  • Encouragement for empowerment, self-compassion, lightheartedness, and playfulness - these are essential when doing the work
